On a beautiful May Bank Holiday Weekend, Vintage Hairdresser London living Fiona Tanner took a trip down to Dover to undertake Vintage Victory Rolls for a number of guests at the Dover Castle WW2 Weekend. We had to do speed hairdo’s ideally in 15 minutes for ladies and young girls frequenting the event that weekend.
It was a full-on forties experience. This year 201y is the 100th anniversary of the WRENS, and marked 77 years since Operation Dynamo. Guests soaked up the atmosphere in the military encampments, getting up close to a replica Spitfire and even got chance to experience a mock battle.
For the ladies; they could learn about the Land Girls, get a victory roll hair do by Kate, Jennifer and Fiona from Lipstick and Curls vintage hairdresser London team.
Visiters got the chance to experience a bomb scene of a replica of a bombed shop and discovered the austerity of the war years from the Ministry of Food.
Live band’s were playing music from the 40s. There were plenty of hands-on activities for children including a brand new assault course – it’s was one of English Heritage’s biggest events of the year and was a real day to remember.
